Conviction + Hopelessness = Productivity

This week's blog post was intended to give you a "Behind the Scenes" look at my business process and a current project. The main idea behind the content was going to be about conviction, and how when you are called to do something, you absolutely should stop dragging your feet and do it. And to be honest, in the last few days and weeks, I have felt like all of these "things" were pointless in a time when the world needs so much more. I have struggled immensely with how to channel this feeling into something that is coherent and valuable to you.
When I was feeling particularly low, I received a text message from my business coach with words of encouragement. It was what I needed and it may be what you need. I know that I am meant to be an encourager and now is a time when I think you need encouragement because it feels like life is fleeting quicker than we would like, like sinking sand.
Briefly, I'll mention that I am working on my book project "Standing on Sinking Sand". I can remember when we first got a computer, I started writing my life story with the goal of getting it published. :) I think I was probably about 8 or 9 at the time. It's always been an idea in the back of my head. Then, I started my business and decided that I needed to write a book about something. But because of my excuses, I put it off. In the process of trying to build my business and improve myself, I was convicted to walk my talk and finally make "author" an authentic part of my identity. So, that's where I am in this process. I have a July deadline to make for first round edits. I have a ton of things to do to be prepared for an August release. But still, we need more.
I was reminded that I am part of the “more” that the world needs and so are you. You may be feelings like you need to do something or say something, but not sure where to start or how to say it. Don't believe that you are more? Here's a "God Promise" directly from the Bible and in my book about accepting your more:
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance to your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.” – Romans 12:6-8

Whatever it is that you stand for or have been called to do, do it now. Especially if it means advocacy, social justice, and love. I now realize that the world needs more of you. Your courage, your power, your strength, your voice, your dollars, your wisdom, your skills, your talents, your faith, your ideas. Whatever it is, the world needs it and we need it now! I need you to turn your hopelessness and helplessness into productivity.
Be encouraged. And let's encourage each other as we navigate this world and this life that does not always serve and support "the least", even though this is a biblical principle. Part of our encouragement relationship needs to be ways to take care of self physically, emotionally, and mentally as you’re dealing with your own internal mess and then have to comprehend the heavy burden of knowing that racism is real and deadly. I also want to encourage you to know and embrace your role in the movement. Not everybody could be Martin or Rosa (the faces of the early Civil Rights movement). There had to be some backbone, some grassroots and that may be you, be encouraged by that. Be encouraged by the gifts that you bring to the table.
