How do you structure your goal list?

Q: How do you structure your goal list? How do I determine if something is a short or long term goal?

A: Short-term and long-term goals are determined by the time frame you give them. Short-term would be anything ranging from 1 week to 1 year. Anything longer than that, I would consider a long-term goal. That said, even long-term goals tend to have several steps to them, which can be broken down into smaller short-term goals. Writing your goals down as SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound) will help you determine short vs. long-term goals. My one piece of “philosophical" advice I would add is “start with the end in mind.” Take some time to think about the overall vision for your life. Think about the timeframe that you want to start having things done, and prioritize the list based on your willingness and ability to get things done.
